	Survived from Illusions paints a landscape in which the protagonist meanders between the worlds of illusion and reality. Elementary opposites like life and death, I and we, fire and water line our hero's path. 	Fruit is an experimental animated short film. Through a combination of real interviews, documentary footage and imaginative animation, it takes viewers on a magical journey that includes reflections on the argumentative themes of “cause and effect”. The content of lama debates is often quick, deep and intelligent, which makes it difficult for the audience to understand the content of their arguments, but the film gives us a second chance to understand.

《果》是一部实验动画短片。影片通过真实访谈、纪录片素材和富有想象力的动画相结合的方式，带领观众踏上一段神奇的旅程，其中包括对 “因果 ”这一论证主题的思考。辩经的内容往往是快速、深刻和有智慧的，这使得观众很难理解他们的论证内容，但这部影片给了我们第二次思考的机会。

	Moon&#38;nbsp;月&#38;nbsp;is an experimental film. 
What does the moonlight bestow? A woman, torch in hand, strolls alone on the beach of her hometown. The neon lights of the city flicker ceaselessly, while the focused beam of the torch transforms into another planet. Part of her body is bathed in light; on the contrary, her identity remains veiled. The woman casts down some silverware as a medium, and then discovers a round mirror that has been washed by the sea. The mirror, the eye, and the moon gaze intently at one another, forging a sense of intimacy... This film delves into the interplay between matriarchal symbols and the subconscious of a contemporary woman, which can also be perceived as a profound yearning for home.《月》是一部实验影像。
月光能带来什么？一个女人举着火把独自走在故乡的海滩上，城市的霓虹灯不断闪烁，手电筒汇聚的光芒变成了另一个星球。身体的一部分被照亮；相反，身份被隐藏起来。女人扔下一些银器作为媒介，然后找到一面被海水冲刷过的圆镜。镜子、眼睛和月亮不断对视，产生了一种亲密感......影片探讨了母系象征与当代女性潜意识交织在一起的作用，也可以被看作是思乡之情。

	In 2018, scientists at the Chinese Academy of Sciences successfully obtained Bimaternal and Bipaternal mice through the editing of imprinted genes, and for the first time in the world, mammalian Bipaternal reproduction was achieved. This film has tried to create an intertwined body of science and metaphysics. Switching between objective and subjective perspectives, it explores the possibilities of the beginnings of human as a mammal through interviews and ritual documentary, celebrating the revelatory capacities of science while inviting the viewer to consider the philosophical questions behind this technology.

2018年，中科院的科学家通过印记基因的编辑，成功得到了双母和双父的小鼠，并且全球首次实现了哺乳动物孤雄生殖。本片试图打造一个科学与形而上学交织的主体。影片在客观和主观视角之间切换，通过访谈和仪式行为纪录片探讨了人类作为哺乳动物起源的可能性。在赞美科学启示能力的同时，也邀请观众思考这一技术背后的哲学问题。

This work draws inspiration from the French film Portrait de la jeune fille en feu and the artist’s own tragic experience with a monk. As stated in the Chinese Buddhist text Zā Āhán Jīng (Samyutta Nikaya): “Everything is burning.” 
Desire is likened to fire—the very source of suffering and confusion for all sentient beings.

Neti, neti...


In Z town, we only know a fragment/an aspect/ a side of time. In this moment I am in now, I am busy interpreting the past, and experiencing the future. Time and I, do not know who has shaped each other, or who is the vessel for whom.


Every word in Z town is a forever refraction, confusing those outside the city. The dreadful names, letters and syllables, containing supreme power, make us forget that language is originally a feeling.


With regard to love, the divine love sometimes descends on the city of Z, insulted or revered (because it is not dead). There is a lot of debate around it, but too few people muster the courage to approach, the great mysterious unsullied friend.


In the city of Z, every human body is a collection of fragments. The eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body and mind, those who dream of themselves, put these together.

	“Ashes fell from the sky ... I looked back, and behind me the mist rolled and swept in and pursued us. Immediately darkness fell… only to hear women crying, children screaming, men shouting, some lamenting their doom, others lamenting the misfortune of their loved ones, and still others praying for death out of fear of it. Many raised their hands and begged God to bless them, while more thought there was no God anywhere. The world's last, eternal darkness had come…”


My death is married to my life.


The dowries are two choices - the


Past, present and future together, or only


The candle tears wet the paper, 


the stage becomes bubble.


Is the poem also a cage? The psalm is the border of a window.


The sky sprays the land and the sea


with the perfume of wind.


The silence is the volcano outside the window


that is about to bleed. 


No, do not speak. Words are forever refracting. 


I am the one that just like you, a collection of fragments and pieces. 


Eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, mind,


Those who dream of me, combing me together. 


Are you leaving?


Yes. 


We are warned not to think about the unreal, but to look at what we actually see. Yet, what we see can easily turn into illusion, sometimes glorious, sometimes dizzying. Why, I ask myself, create a certain reality? What is the difference between this created reality and the real one? Apparently, people enjoy walking into an illusion and then leaving it again. Most of the time I feel my own existence from objects that are opposite to me, sometimes I simply perceive my own existence. That's why we are separate in the first place. I think it is not what I see that matters, but what I imagine - between me and the object I see. Me, you, between us. For example, air is needed for a fire to burn - in the gap between the fire and the fire. Metaphors always bring the best inspiration. The metaphor provides a way of saying the obvious while, at the same time, saying nothing at all. You see, we used to be free, until we invented words. Death and living, illusion and reality, the gazer and the one being gazed, freedom and bondage… to this point, everywhere a prison, everywhere a paradox.

Born 1999, China

Qi Zhuang is an interdisciplinary artist, filmmaker and animator working between China and the UK. Her works draws inspiration from self experience, Buddhism, phenomenology and symbolism, experiencing abstract cosmological ideas through intimate, materialist ways with body language, sound and moving images. 

During her MA studies at Royal College of Art (RCA), Qi examined time-based media, software and text as a means to explore themes such as life and death, Māyā, and the ineffable in multi-dimensional ways. Most of the time, she carefully examines the media she works with, striving to create images that evoke raw and visceral visual experiences.
Qi’s works have been exhibited in Austria, Russia, the US, the UK, Spain and China. As a researcher, her autobiographical essay “World, Symbol, Gaze” was published in Art and Society(ISSN 2709-9830) Vol.3, No.3(2024) and is archived at the RCA library.

	
&#38;nbsp;&#38;nbsp; 1999年出生于中国厦门——&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;庄琪是一名跨学科艺术家、导演和动画师，在中国和英国两地工作。她的作品从个人经历、佛教、现象学和象征主义中汲取灵感，通过肢体语言、声音和动态影像，以亲密的、唯物主义的方式体验抽象的宇宙观。&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;在英国皇家艺术学院（RCA）攻读硕士学位期间，庄琪以时间性媒体、软件和文本为创作手段，多维度地探索生死、摩耶与“不可言说”等主题。她常常深入研究所选媒介，力图呈现能唤起原始直觉与本能的视觉图像。&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;庄琪的作品曾在奥地利、俄罗斯、美国、英国、西班牙和中国展出。作为一名研究者，她的自传体论文《世界、符号、凝视》发表在《艺术与社会》期刊（ISSN 2709-9830）第3卷第3期（2024年）上，并被收藏于英国皇家艺术学院图书馆。&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;庄琪目前任教于厦门大学创意与创新学院——数字媒体艺术系。
